National Rum Day!

National Rum Day!

Posted by Caron on Aug 16, 2018

It's been a little bit foggy here, but I see sunshine on the Pacific Ocean Horizon - we will be making up some Dark and Stormy's for cocktail hour tonight! So yummy and super easy to make. The Dark and Stormy has been our go-to cocktail for the summer - love the refreshing taste of ginger beer combined with rum and fresh lime.  A classic "can't miss" drink that looks impressive and tastes so delish.

A tropical treat for a hot  August night...

P.S. Shown with just a small portion of my vintage cocktail glassware collection  (I have a slight "addiction" to vintage barware!) and Tom's retro traveling cocktail case. We took the ingredients to a weekend get away weekend in Healdsburg with Tom's college roommate and best friend.  These ice-filled drinks were a perfect change of pace after a day of wine tasting in Dry Creek Valley.

For One Cocktail:

3 oz. Goslings Black Seal Rum (the coolest label!)
4 oz. Ginger Beer
Lime Wedges for Garnish

Instructions: Combine the rum and ginger beer in an ice-filled highball glass, and stir to combine. Garnish with lime wedges. That's it - super simple and ready to serve in a flash!

We've made many fun summer time and beach "themed" drinks using the "Beach Cocktails" Book from Coastal Living for inspiration - you just can't go wrong with the editors recommendations.  The on-location and libation pictures alone are worth it to dive into the fab cocktail recipe book!

P.S. Our etched 15 oz. cooler glasses would be perfect for serving up these refreshing drinks!

Maybe the School of Dolphins?  If you notice there is one that is swimming just a little to his own tune...

Or the Mermaids would be fab too!

Have fun celebrating National Rum Day - don't forget the Fresh Limes!
