The Beach Comber - Get the Look!

The Beach Comber - Get the Look!

Posted by Caron on Sep 11, 2017

This fall season,  we have curated a new collection that we're calling "The Beach Comber", and can't wait to introduce you all to our ideas behind the story to create this look. Neutral, but not really "neutral", this style is created by incorporating rich natural texture found in driftwood, tumbled sea glass and dune grass, soft textured knits, natural fibers like wool and wicker, with the fabulous patterns spun in nature. Think of design inspired by water; tossed driftwood tones, the soft ivory and grey shades of found sea shells, tumbled sea glass in shades of aqua and green, bits of coral and the myriad shades of grey in beach sand...

I fell in love with this idea many years ago, as a way to bring the outside in when Autumn arrives with its' stormy grey days. I need a way to display my summer beach finds, but matching the subtle color palette of fall at the beach. Keeping my "cozy nest" warm and interesting with layers of textured knits, plush rugs and lush fabrics in pillows. While still showing off my found shells and sea glass.

I was re-inspired by Tim Neve's beautiful book - Sand Castles.  It's one of my all-time favorite coastal decorating books; filled to the brim with gorgeous styling tips and photography.  So easy to get lost in the pages dreaming up ways to reconfigure a coastal home!

4.  Add lighting with natural texture like driftwood or tumbled glass

New - Darby Driftwood Lamp

5. Throw Pillows - My Go-To decor trick for changing the seasons!  Cost effective and the easiest way to add color and interest to a beach home room.

Love Linen Pillows - any time of year, they can create a sense of luxury and softness.  New - Aqua Coral Garden Luxury Pillow (coral pink available too)

My favorite part about creating an updated look with a Beach Comber theme?  Easy to do - you might already have all of the ingredients hiding in a different room or in a closet. This style is simply a great way to show off your love of a coastal lifestyle... collecting the treasures found tossed up by the ocean!

It's also my favorite way to bring beach style inside your home for fall.
